On September 13, 2009, Catalyst Church launched with a vision to love people far from God and move them to life in Christ. From day one, Pastor Michael Larkin, his wife Rachel, and a group of 10 people desired to create a church that unchurched people would actually like to attend.
We know that Connecticut doesn't need just another church. Catalyst Church isn’t at all about being just “another” church. What Connecticut is desperately in need of are churches that are passionate about creating environments where people can connect with God.
It has been said that in order to reach people no one else is reaching you have to do things no one else is doing. Catalyst Church is a team of people who have a history of being innovative and authentic in reaching out to others. As a church we will continue to do what no one else is doing in order to reach those no one else is reaching.
No matter who you are or where you've been, you're welcome here. We believe God has a purpose and a plan for your life and we pray that Catalyst Church can make a difference in your life and our communities. We'd love for you to join us and go on this journey together!
We desire to see the hurting find hope and peace,
the lost find purpose and direction,
the struggling to find encouragement and passion,
to see those who don't like church actually enjoying church,
and for those not yet following Jesus to find forgiveness and freedom in His name.
Pastor Michael Larkin is the founding and Lead Pastor of Catalyst Church. God has called him to mobilize a movement of believers to live beyond themselves and bring Jesus to the world around them. Michael has a burning desire to reach people that are far from God. God has given him a vision and passion to do whatever it takes, by whatever means necessary, to reach those far from God.
Pastor Michael, and his amazing wife and best friend Rachel, have been married for 17 years and have five amazing children: Aidan, Alexis, Callie, Maximus, and Kinsley. Michael grew up in Middletown, Connecticut and was a Youth Pastor for almost 10 years before starting Catalyst Church in September of 2009. He loves hanging out with his family, raising up leaders, baseball, football, and just about anything Apple makes. He exists to Love God, Love People, and to Prove it! This is just the beginning of the incredible story God is writing at Catalyst. Come check it out and enjoy the journey of a lifetime with Jesus!

We will continually seize momentum by structuring for where we want to go, not where we are. We must take bold steps, abandon the reasonable, embrace the uncomfortable and watch God move.
We freely give honor to those above us, beside us and under us because of the calling and potential God has placed inside them.
We will be pacesetters in living generously. We believe generosity is not something God wants from us, but rather something he wants for us.
Catalyst is built on the vision that God has given Pastor Michael. We will aggressively defend our unity and his vision.
We expect marriages to be restored, addictions to be broken, and for God to do the unexplainable. When no one else expects it to happen, we do - and we will celebrate when the unexpected happens.
Jesus is at the center of everything we do. Nothing we do matters unless it furthers the message of Jesus.
Life change can't happen in our community until there is a lifestyle change in us. Simply attending church and never leveraging what God has entrusted to us is not an acceptable option.
We value acting on what you know over selfishly sitting back and learning more. The goal is life change, not information transfer.
We will not strive for perfection, nor will we wait for perfect conditions. We will give the very best we can to what God is calling us to do.
We will do a few things with excellence, not everything with mediocrity. We are not a buffet.
We will not cater to personal preference in our mission to reach this city. We are more focused on those we are trying to reach than those we are trying to keep.
In essential beliefs — we have unity
“There is one Body and one Spirit...there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all...” (Eph. 4:4-6)
In non-essential beliefs — we have liberty.
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters... Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls... So then each of us will give an account of himself to God... So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.” (Romans 14:1,4,12,22)
In all our beliefs — we show charity.
“...If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains — but have no love, I amount to nothing at all.” (1 Cor. 13:2)
